Powerboat Level 2 course

The RYA Powerboat Level 2 Course is a  2 day course provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence (I.C.C.). 

Whether you have no previous experience or would like to brush up your skills this is the course for you!

Pre-requisites:

Previous Experience: None

Minimum Age: 18 years 

Minimum Age (own boat): 18 years (must be within training centre area)

Maximum 3 students on any assessment 

Course content overview:

  • Launching & Recovery

  • Boat handling at low and planing speed

  • Securing to a buoy

  • Man overboard  Anchoring

  • Leaving & coming alongside (marina handling)

  • Basic Navigation & passage planning

  • IRPCS (road rules)

  • Weather & Tides

  • Use of our school boat inc. Fuel 

  • Use of Lifejacket 

  • Experienced RYA instructor

  • RYA Start powerboat handbook per person

  • RYA Level 2 certificate (assuming successful completion)
